What is OSB Board?

OSB is engineered around direction: hardwood strands are aligned in each layer, cross-lapped, and pressed so the panel resists racking — the in-plane shear that makes a timber frame wall stiff. That structural behaviour, plus a price per square metre well below plywood, is why OSB dominates sheathing and packaging across North America and Europe.

Huanawood produces OSB/2 for dry conditions and OSB/3 for humid service, 6–22 mm in 1220 × 2440 mm, with square edge as standard and tongue-and-groove on request for sub-floor and roof decking layouts.

Why buyers choose our OSB Board

Real racking resistance

Strand alignment is what separates OSB from chipboard. Our presses control flake orientation, so shear values stay consistent panel to panel.

OSB/3 for the jobs that get wet

Roof decking, site hoarding and packaging that sits in ports need humid-service bonding. OSB/3 survives the construction phase; OSB/2 keeps interior costs down.

T&G for flooring layouts

Tongue-and-groove long edges turn 4×8 ft sheets into a continuous sub-floor without spline strips.

Looks that sell

The strand pattern is now a design feature — sanded and lacquered OSB appears in retail fit-outs and furniture exactly because of it.

Applications

Wall and roof sheathing

Structural cladding for timber-frame construction.

Sub-flooring

T&G panels on joists before finish floors.

Site hoarding and temporary works

Painted OSB/3 fence panels and site cabins.

Packaging and crates

Heavy-duty export crates that take forklift abuse.

Furniture frames and visible panels

Lacquered OSB for industrial-style interiors.

Frequently asked questions

OSB/2 or OSB/3 — which grade do I need?
OSB/2 for permanently dry interior use: furniture frames, interior partition lining, packaging stored indoors. OSB/3 for anything exposed to construction-phase humidity: roof and wall sheathing, sub-floors, hoarding, export crates that wait in ports.
Is OSB cheaper than plywood?
Per square metre, usually 20–35 % below comparable structural plywood. Where fastener edge distances are tight or the edge is exposed, plywood still wins — that is why many buyers load both.
Can I get tongue-and-groove edges?
Yes, T&G on the long edges is available on request, mainly for 15–22 mm sub-floor panels.
Does OSB swell if it gets wet?
OSB/3 edges swell slightly with prolonged soaking but the panel returns close to nominal on drying and keeps its strength. Store off the ground and keep wrap on until installation — same rule as any wood panel.
What is the emission class?
E1 as standard, with E0 available on selected thicknesses for project orders.
